Neck-Collar

Middle of button to end of buttonhole

 

  1. Open your shirt out and place it on its back. Place one end of the measuring tape on the thread attaching the button. This will be the center of the button.
  2. Then run the tape straight along the collar band to the far edge of the buttonhole. Ensure you are holding the collar band out tight.

Shoulder-Yoke Width

Outside edge of shoulder point seam to same on opposite shoulder

 

  1. Lay the shirt flat on its front. Place one end of the measuring tape on the outside edge of the shoulder point seam.
  2. Then run the tape straight across to the outside edge of the opposite shoulder point seam. Make sure the yoke is held tight.

Sleeve Length

Outside edge of shoulder point seam to same on opposite shoulder

 

    1. Lay the shirt flat on its front. Place one end of the measuring tape on the outside edge of the shoulder point seam.
    2. Then run the tape straight across to the outside edge of the opposite shoulder point seam. Make sure the yoke is held tight.

Sleeve Bicep Width

Outside edge of armhole seam, straight to top of arm. Lay your shirt flat

 

Pull your sleeve straight out and flatten like you would when ironing your sleeve.

  1. Hold one end of the measuring tape at the outside edge of the armhole seam. Holding this end run the tape across the flat width of the sleeve to the folded edge. Ensure that the measuring lines on the tape run parallel to the edge of the sleeve. This will ensure you are measure square across the sleeve.

Cuff

Button cuff: Center of button attach to outside of buttonhole

 

  1. Unbutton the cuff and sleeve placket and lay it flat on a hard surface with the inside facing up.
  2. Place one end of the measuring tape on the thread attaching the cuff button. Where you have a double button cuff, measure from the outside button. Holding this end, run the tape across to the outside edge of the buttonhole.

 

Double cuff: Outside of buttonhole to outside of button hole

 

  1. Where you have a double or French cuff, hold one end of the measuring tape at the outside edge of one cuff link hole. Holding this end, then run the tape across the outside edge of the opposite cuff link hole.

Chest

Bottom of armhole seam

 

  1. Outside of side seam to outside of side seam on opposite armhole. Button up the shirt from top to bottom, then lay the shirt flat on its back.
  2. Then place one end of the measuring tape at the bottom of the armhole seam and run the tape across the chest to the bottom of the opposite armhole seam. Make sure the shirt is held out tight across the chest without pulling the placket out of shape.

Waist

Fold and place bottom of side seam onto bottom of armhole seam

 

  1. Measure from side to side at fold. Button up the shirt from top to bottom, then lay the shirt flat on its back.
  2. Then fold the bottom of the shirt up to the underside of the armhole seam. The fold line will naturally be at the waist. Flatten the fold as best you can, then hold one end of the measuring tape at the outside edge of the fold line. Holding this end then run the tape across to the opposite outside edge of the fold line.

Length

Bottom of collar band to bottom hem

 

  1. Place the shirt face down on a flat surface.
  2. Then place one end of the measuring tape at the bottom of the collar band in the center. Holding this end, run the tape down the full length of the back all the way to the outside edge of the bottom hem
